Project Manager – Public Works & Roadway Design

Onward Engineering is a civil engineering firm based in Orange County. We work exclusively with public agencies on horizontal infrastructure — streets, parkways, and CIP improvements for California cities. We're a tight team, we take our work seriously, and we've built long relationships with our clients by actually delivering. We're growing and we need a Project Manager who's ready to lead.

Compensation & Benefits:

• $185K+ depending on experience

• 36-hour work week with Fridays off every week

• Hybrid schedule with Thursdays from home

The Role: This is a full project ownership position. You'll manage roadway and public works projects from kickoff through construction, run client relationships directly with city engineers and public works directors, and lead a team of engineers and designers. You'll be the person your clients call when something needs to get done.

Day to day that means managing schedules and budgets, overseeing design production in Civil 3D, reviewing submittals and RFI responses, coordinating with agencies, and leading proposal efforts when we're going after new work. You'll also mentor junior staff and contribute to how we grow as a firm.

You are the right fit if:

• You're a licensed PE in California with 10+ years of experience in public works

• You've managed street, roadway, or parkway projects for a city or public agency

• You're proficient in Civil 3D and know Caltrans standards, the Greenbook, and local agency requirements

• You're comfortable owning client relationships and being the face of a project

• You want a place to build a career, not a stepping stone
