City of Commerce Bus Shelter Project

OE provided design engineering services on this project. The City of Commerce was awarded $500,000 of Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Transit Development Act (TDA) funds for improving 175 bus stop locations, servicing 5 bus lines. Our team reviewed a preliminary bus stop survey, which was conducted by the City of Commerce, and which delineated the anticipated improvements. This document served as a basis for our design, and our team visited each site to confirm each improved stop provided ADA compliant access along sidewalks. Additionally, OE analyzed bus routes for efficient routing, and recommended removal of unnecessary stops within a neighborhood. The final construction scope included installing 16 new shelters, 37 metal benches, new poles and signs at select stops, and 10,300 SF of PCC sidewalk and bus pads.
